Mr Eric Dakogol, the APC candidate, has won Saturday’s bye-election to fill Qua’an Pan North Constituency’s seat in the Plateau House of Assembly.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dakogol polled 5,409 votes to defeat PDP’s Alloy Oliver, who garnered 4,977 votes.
INEC’s Returning Officer, Associate Prof. Akkarven Ashakah, who announced the result at the legislators chamber ín Qua’an Pan Local Government Secretariat, described the election as “very successful and credible’’.
Ashakah, who is the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Jos, congratulated the two candidates and their parties for conducting themselves peacefully during the bye-election.
“Politics is a game of numbers and should be played maturely,” he said.
With the victory, Dakogol will replace Godfrey Dashe, who died two months ago, as the representative of the constituency in the state House of Assembly.
