SaharaReporters has been given copies of the January 29, 2016 Supreme Court ruling against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, a top-Chieftain Chukwudi Okasia, and the Independent National Election Commission (INEC). The Supreme Court ruling, as reported earlier by SaharaReporters, was in favor of the appellants who argued that a caretaker committee had been unlawfully set up in Anambra State by the former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience Jonathan.
The fallout from the Supreme Court’s ruling is the sacking of all Senate
members representing Anambra State, including Stella Oduah and Andy Uba. SaharaReporters previously reported that Chris Uba’s younger brother Andy Uba will replace him as Senator, while Prince Emeka will replace Stella Oduah.
Supreme Court Justice John Okoro stated in his ruling that “the 1st and 3rd respondents [the PDP and Mr. Okasia, respectively] have tried to raise issues which tend to show that there are conflicts as to facts. I do not see any.”
