The
Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Prof.
Umar Danbatta, yesterday, declared that the telecom industry alone added about N1.4 trillion into the Nigerian economy at the end of first quarter of 2016.
This is also as he promised more from telecom to the till with anticipated
investments in the next quarters. Part of the indices which the EVC said
convinced him that the economy would benefit from telecom investments was the
commission’s decision to review the 2.6GHz spectrum auction, which attracted
only one bidder last month when it was carried out. The review eventually would
see more bidders and more money into the economy.
